About Andrea

Andrea grew up riding on the Central Coast of California. At the age of three, she started riding Shetland ponies in Western Pleasure and Showmanship, and at the age of four, went to her first show.

When she turned seven, she decided to move up to horses and start learning how to jump. Shortly after her parents bought her first horse, Wilbur, she started competing in local and rated shows.

At the start of middle school she and her mother rescued a 4 year old off the track thoroughbred, Skye, whom she taught to jump and took to local shows.

In high school, they bought a hunter, Danny, to finish her last junior year. They were successful in the 3’ hunters and equitation for several years.

In college, Andrea was ready to move up to the next level of jumping, so her trainer found a wonderful jumper, Ellie. Her trainer at the time, Benson Carroll, then asked her to be his working student, where she learned many of her valuable skills with horses. She worked closely with the head groom, Rigo Soto, the farriers, and the veterinarians, where she learned more about horses from a care perspective. Also during this time she helped found, was Vice President, and competed on the Western and English IHSA teams for her college, Cal State Monterey Bay.

After her time with Benson’s program, she went on the teach all levels of lessons and train all levels of horses in the Bay Area, she worked in the equine hospital and ambulatory for their same veterinarians, and eventually ended up in Oakland teaching lessons, training horses, and managing a barn.

At this facility, she was reunited with Benson and Rigo, which she cherished greatly. She worked at this facility for 5 years, learning the ins and outs of running a successful training business. During her time at this job, she successfully competed up to 1.20 with her horse Continental, who is the name sake for her business. She hopes to eventually get another jumper prospect to develop and show again soon.

With the support of her husband, Daniel, and two dogs, Dot and Maverick, she is now looking forward to starting her unique program with the teachings of her former trainers and grooms to pass along their incredible knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of riders.
